Thank you note from the President

I would like to take this late opportunity (I have been traveling since the tournament and just returning today) to thank all of you for your participation in the Art Browne Memorial Cricket tournament held on the long weekend in Waterloo. To the players, a personal thank you for traveling the distance you did, and for an outstanding performance on the field to make the match an exciting one. To the directors, supporters, and spectators, we appreciate you taking the time to join us on the long weekend, and for showing the city and our players the support that is out there for the game of Cricket in Canada.

I think we achieved our two main goals of the Memorial Tournament, thanks to your help and support:

1) To honour Art for his dedication to the team and to the sport. Given that we had press coverage for the event, and we had many folks dropping out of respect for Art, I think we should all be proud in the tribute paid to him this weekend.

2) Importantly, I think we influenced some key members of the community as to the prominence of Cricket in the KW community, and showed the community as a whole that Cricket is an exciting sport like none other, that draws players, families, kids, spectators, and the like. I am anxious to see the kind of coverage we get from this.

We are looking forward to making this an annual event for our club, and we hope that we can count on your continued support for Sunrise, and Cricket, into the future. I encourage all of you to visit our website regularly (http://sunrisecricketclub.com) as we will have highlights from the Tournament, as well as progress reports throughout the season.
